About Us

We are a diverse group of people who have a common interest in and love of poetry. Since 1983, the group has encouraged poetry writing through: 

• regular meetings that include:
  • break-out groups where poems are subjected to supportive peer group scrutiny
  • ten minute slots where members read a selection of their poems to the whole group
  • workshops run by members or visiting poets

• participation in the preparation of our quarterly journal, The Cannon's Mouth

• our annual poetry competition: Sonnet or Not

• Members are encouraged to participate in poetry events and competitions
   

Cannon Poets Meetings

Cannon Poets monthly meetings are usually held at the Moseley Exchange, Post Office Building, 149-153, Alcester Road, Moseley, Birmingham B13 8JP [see map] usually the first Sunday of each month, 2pm - 5pm.Deerfoot Inn and Casino

Since the pandemic, we have resumed face to face Cannon Poets meetings, but they alternate with Zoom meetings. Please see details below. If you would like to join our Zoom meetings, or want to confirm the dates of our face to face meetings, please contact Martin Underwood
